Job Title: Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager, Children's Residential Home
Location: Berwick-Upon-Tweed
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Team Manager to join a children's residential home. In this vital role, you will collaborate closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates safely, smoothly, and effectively, providing a nurturing and therapeutic environment for young people. This position offers a unique blend of direct therapeutic engagement with residents and essential supervisory and managerial responsibilities, all aimed at delivering the highest standards of care and compliance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Leadership and Operations: Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the Registered Manager, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards) and Ofsted requirements. This involves deputizing for the Registered Manager when necessary, guiding the team towards achieving 'Good' or 'Outstanding' Ofsted ratings, conducting reflective supervision and appraisals for Residential Support Workers, assisting with recruitment and training initiatives, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture, and managing staff rotas efficiently.
* Therapeutic Support and Safeguarding: Champion the home's therapeutic model by directly engaging with young people to provide therapeutic support. You will oversee the development and review of individual care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans, working in partnership with external professionals. A strong commitment to safeguarding is paramount; you will ensure all safeguarding policies are strictly adhered to and effectively manage incidents and challenging behaviors.
* Quality Assurance and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records, contribute to internal quality assurance processes, prepare for external inspections, and ensure the physical environment of the home remains safe, clean, and conducive to therapeutic care.
What We're Looking For:
* Essential:
o A minimum of two years of recent experience in a supervisory role within a children's residential setting, such as a Senior Residential Support Worker.
o Possession of a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (or an equivalent qualification).
o A comprehensive understanding of therapeutic approaches within residential child care.
o Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations with a calm, therapeutic, and effective approach.
* Desirable:
o Currently working towards or already holding a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification).
o Previous experience contributing to Ofsted inspections.
o A full UK Driving License.
