Overview Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult In‑patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. Vacancy has arisen due to relocation of current postholder.
Service Context The Adult Eating Disorder services include an 18‑bed inpatient unit, outpatient service and day unit, all located in a new, state‑of‑the‑art Trinity building.
The Trust is part of the South London Partnership (SLP) and works collaboratively with other local trusts. The Avalon Ward serves patients aged 18 and over, primarily from Surrey, Sussex and Kent, who require inpatient treatment when community support is insufficient.
Responsibilities Provide overall clinical responsibility for the inpatient assessment, care and treatment of adults on Avalon ward. Support effective team functioning and work with a part‑time consultant colleague, the team and directorate in service development initiatives. Ensure high quality and innovative service, develop new treatment ideas, evaluate treatments and contribute to national improvement efforts for eating disorder services. Engage in South London Provider Collaborative activities, training opportunities, and teaching students and trainees. Share clinical responsibilities with a part‑time consultant and an experienced SAS doctor; workload depends on patient complexity and detention status.
