Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: June 2026
Salary: £92 – £115 per day
Provide consistent, individualised support to pupils with additional needs, helping them engage in learning, develop confidence, and make meaningful progress!
GSL Education are seeking for a dedicated and proactive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) to support students at a specialist setting in York.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide individualised support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they are fully included in learning and school life.
SEND Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
* Assist in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
* Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
* Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams.
* Follow safeguarding policies and contribute to a safe environment.
SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
* Be a patient, empathetic, and supportive educator.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
* Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
