 
        
        Interim Payroll and Pensions Lead (St Michaels Hospice - Hastings & Rother)
Join our team as the Interim Payroll and Pensions Lead, reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst and Payroll Manager. In this temporary role you will take full ownership of all payroll and pensions processes using Sage Payroll and support the transition to an external Payroll Bureau.
Salary: £35,142.82 per annum
Contract type: Fixed‑term – 6 to 9 months
Working pattern: Full-time

Responsibilities
 * Process payroll end‑to‑end for the hospice workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
 * Maintain up‑to‑date employee data in Sage Payroll and resolve all payroll and pension queries.
 * Support the transition to an external payroll bureau and help shape future payroll operations.
 * Collaborate with HR, finance and office functions to maintain integrity and confidentiality.
Qualifications
 * Extensive experience in payroll processing and strong working knowledge of Sage Payroll.
 * Up‑to‑date understanding of employment and tax legislation related to pay and benefits.
 * Confidence with timesheet calculations, reconciliations and payroll reconciliations.
 * Collaborative mindset with ability to support wider finance and office functions.
 * Solution‑focused approach, integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
