Thaxted Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis for 24 hours a week. Exact days are negotiable and dependant on the right candidate but will include a 6pm finish on a Thursday afternoon. As a key member of our practice, you will be able to treat patients in your own clinic along with the support of our team of GP’s, ANP and ACP, practice nurses, health care assistants, and dispensary and administration teams. The main responsibilities of the role include: Chronic disease management (such as diabetes and/or respiratory medicine). Cervical smears. Contraception. Wound care. Removal of sutures. Blood pressure monitoring. Travel advice and injections. Routine/childhood immunisations. ECGs. Urinalysis. Health promotions. Regular clinical meetings. About the Candidate We would love to hear from you if you are an experienced practice nurse looking for an exciting new challenge or a secondary care nurse looking to make the switch into primary care. You will have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: A relevant nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a general practice setting or equivalent. Current NMC registration with an active PIN. Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care. Competence (or willingness to learn) to undertake Asthma and Diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates. Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
