Teaching Personnel are seeking confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to provide ad hoc supply cover across a range of secondary schools in Portsmouth. This flexible role is ideal for individuals looking to gain varied classroom experience, maintain work–life balance, or explore a career in education. In this role, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons to students aged 11–16 in the absence of their usual teacher. Your key responsibility will be to ensure students remain on task and engaged with their learning while maintaining a calm, positive and productive classroom environment. Depending on the setting, you may also be required to support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and provide clear feedback to teaching staff regarding student behaviour and progress. The successful candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged pupils, with SEN experience being advantageous. You should be confident managing classrooms, able to adapt quickly to different school environments, and communicate effectively with both students and staff. Enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting young people’s education are essential. This is a flexible, ad hoc supply role offering competitive daily pay rates of £100–£130, with opportunities to work in a variety of supportive and inclusive school settings.
