Join our dynamic ENT Department at Castle Hill Hospital. We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Consultants to join our thriving ENT Department based primarily at Castle Hill Hospital. We welcome applications from dedicated individuals at all stages of their consultant career, whether you bring a specific subspecialty interest, are an established General ENT Consultant, or are wishing to pursue CESR. As a team, we are committed to supporting the right candidate to grow and thrive within our well-established, collaborative service.
You will work within modern outpatient and day‑surgery facilities, share an inpatient ward with Breast & Plastic Surgery, and contribute to paediatric and day‑case ENT services at Hull Royal Infirmary. Our team also leads on acute ENT emergency care. Our service delivers a comprehensive Head & Neck and Thyroid cancer pathway, supported by specialist surgeons and advanced techniques including Transoral Robotic and Endoscopic surgery. We also provide anterior and lateral skull base service along with our neurosurgical colleagues. You will collaborate closely with Plastic, Maxillofacial, Neurosurgical and Cardiothoracic colleagues, as well as partners across the Northeast Yorkshire and Humber Cancer Alliance.
Main duties of the job
* Support and develop ENT services in alignment with the Trusts strategic priorities, working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high‑quality care.
* Deliver routine and emergency ENT services as part of the consultant team, including participation in the out‑of‑hours rota and providing cover during colleagues annual, study, and professional leave.
* Provide elective and subspecialty ENT care, contributing to the general service while delivering specialist surgical expertise in line with Trust needs.
* Contribute to education and training, supporting the development of junior doctors, medical students, nurses, paramedics, GPs and other NHS professionals.
* Play a key role in elective, emergency and subspecialty ENT services, supporting the development of trainees and multidisciplinary colleagues and helping shape the future of ENT care for a population of over 1.1 million.

Person Specification
Professional Registration
* Full Registration with the GMC.
Qualifications and Training
* Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining) or CESR.
Clinical Experience
* Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on a range of acute medical conditions.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Subspecialty interest in rhinology, otology or paediatric ENT.
Management and Administration Experience
* Ability to manage and lead medical/surgical teams.
* Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit.
* Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload.
* Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
* Evidence of participation in quality improvement projects.
Teaching, Audit and Research
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
* Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students.
* Evidence of participation in audit.
* Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients.
* Experience of teaching/training in clinical courses e.g. IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor.
Personal Attributes
* Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service.
* Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears.
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other health professionals and adjust style as appropriate.
