An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as Specialty Doctor in Dermatology within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This is a full time, 10 PA post, and is being recruited to on a permanent basis. Part time may be considered.
The successful candidate will complement the team of five friendly and welcoming consultants. We are a strong team with diverse specialist skills and experience who support each other and our patients as we strive to deliver the best possible care. Dermatology is a specialty within the Surgical Services Directorate which is part of Acute Services. The department provides treatment and healthcare on an area basis for a population of approximately 388,000. The Department is based in University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock (with some clinics University Hospital Ayr). Applicants will be expected to work across both sites when required.
Ayrshire offers spectacular countryside and coastline to explore, world-renowned golfing all within easy reach of the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Glasgow and the south side leafy suburbs with excellent schooling.
The unit has busy Day Treatment Units at Crosshouse and Ayr providing dressings, TL01, and PUVA. Minor surgery facilities are available in the Dermatology Centre as well as in the clinic areas. Specialist dermatology nurses operate review clinics primarily for eczema and psoriasis patients and for those patients on isotretinoin and biologic therapy. There are seven nurse biopsy specialists.
The existing team is comprised of 5 Consultants Dermatologists, 1 Specialist Doctor, 3 Specialty Doctors, 4 GPwER, 1 Registrar, 2 GPST, an FY2, a Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist and 3 Nurse Practitioners and a Pharmacist. You will also work closely with our excellent team of nurses, led by our Senior Charge Nurse and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Full GMC Registration with current Licence to Practice is essential.
A minimum of 4 years full-time post graduate training, of which at least 2 years will have been within dermatology or a related specialty, is essential. At least 6 months of this should be NHS experience in Dermatology
MRCGP or MRCP are desirable
We are looking for an effective team player with good medical knowledge and a broad range of experience in Dermatology and of working closely with multidisciplinary team colleagues. You should be committed to working flexibly within the ever changing needs of the service.
