Apointe is proudly retained on a new Finance Director vacancy based in Buckinghamshire - this is working for an entrepreneurial SME, who due to its success and achievements has seen a recent global acquisition to fund and promote further growth and accelerate its almost guaranteed potential.
This is a highly visible, highly rewarding, and all-encompassing Finance director/CFO vacancy, reporting directly to the CEO you will have ownership of finance, legal and compliance.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
* Ensure alignment with CEO on the business strategy and provide guidance/advice on any present/future considerations which have/will have an impact on business operations and future expansion
* Understand and own the company's financial strategy, which includes long-term financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and expansion strategies
* Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and all aspects of business reporting
* Challenge and constructively contribute to the company's decision making process, ensuring mitigation of any negative exposure
* Ensure compliance with local legalisation, the company’s HQ and local policies/procedures.
* Ensure structure is applied appropriately or create & define new processes where required to ensure efficiency ; ensure application of JSOX controls
Responsibilities:
* Understand the business objectives and ensure that Finance initiatives are aligned with strategic guidelines and constantly contribute to the business plan
* Manage all financial operations, including budget process, cash flow, financial planning and reporting, expense management, accounting, tax compliance, FP&A, treasury, controllership and payroll.
* Ensure that the financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in accordance with local legalisation, regulations and accounting principles
* PPA adjustment and IFRS reporting, oversee the preparation, communication and execution of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
* Ensure the timely reporting of key financial data and provide updates to the CEO, the company’s RHQ & GHQ, and other key stakeholders as required.
Leadership:
* Coach and direct the finance team and ensure their ongoing professional development and training.
* Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive team and drive the importance of accurate financial planning
* Manage 3 direct reports, including Financial Controller, Assist. Management Accountant, and Finance Assist.
Legal & compliance:
* Responsible for all legal and regulatory compliance requirements regarding all financial functions (including JSOX requirements), including commercial agreements. Immediately escalate any risk to the business
Communication:
* Leadership Teams & Associates - Partner with leadership teams (CEO & Functional) on the principle finance duties and responsibilities. Serve as an key advisor to the business on all financial matters
* Finance Colleagues in EMEA & GHQ - Reporting, best practice sharing, Information, support & advice, efficiency
* External contacts, such as: HMRC (tax, payments & customs), suppliers & vendors (payroll), and external legal counsel & auditors (risk mitigation, legal review & compliance)
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Solid knowledge of financial operations (financial planning and reporting, expense management, accounting, tax compliance, FP&A, treasury, controllership and payroll)
* Strong analytical skills demonstrating ability to gather, analyse and extract useful data
* Skilled in management processes such as business and organization planning, change management, influencing multi-functional teams, controlling, communication and training
* High level of initiative, creativity, perseverance and flexibility
* Able to influence people and take decisions
* Good listening and communication skills across all levels
* Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance requirements regarding all financial functions, including commercial agreements
* Strong experience in EU/global accounting / IFRS is an advantage
* Pro-active and hands-on mentality
Required Experience:
* 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, with preference several years in the accounting area or in financial audit environment
* Prior experience as a member of a leadership team
* Organised and structured people leader with experience of managing a team
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to strategise and devise solutions
* High level of integrity and dependability
* Proficiency in various software, such as MS Word, MS Excel and other financial management software
* Experience of working in a matrix organization with reporting to both operational and functional leadership is essential
Required Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
* Professional accreditation (e.g. ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
* Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Desired)
