Wood require a Senior Instrument Designer on a minimum 12 month contract duration, based from our offices at St. Vincent's Plaza, Glasgow. This role has a hybrid working structure with a minimum of 2 days in the office. You will be working on various projects across Wood's portfolio of clients.
The role:
1. Provide Senior Instrument Design on projects as required by the C&I Discipline Manager / Lead Engineer / Designer as a Senior C&I Designer.
2. Execute instrument design activities (Concept, FEED & Detailed Design).
3. Carry out Site surveys as required under project Instrument scope.
4. Assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems.
5. Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
6. Maintain the required technical quality or work.
7. Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with Change Control Process.
8. Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures, standards and regulations.
9. Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
10. Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
11. Responsible for delivering Instrument design project work scope as required to desired quantlity.
12. Maintain good communication with the Client and visit Assets when necessary.
13. Minimum HNC in Instrument Engineering or related subject.
14. Experience with working on projects for the Energy, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Refining Sectors.
15. Experience with working within a project team as Senior C&I designer and on C&I teams across a range of industry sectors. on Small, Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up.
16. Be a Self-motivated team player working on own initiative with minimal supervision.
17. Experience with development of Instrument Design deliverables as required on a project by project basis.
18. Good understanding with respect to applicable international codes and standards and their application.
19. High level of competency with respect to AutoCAD 2D (required) and AVEVA PDMS E3D (desirable) software.
20. Experience of managing, checking and delivering of the following deliverables – Cable Block diagrams, Instrument schedule, Cable and Drum Schedules, Layout and Routing Drawings, Support & Transit Drawings, MTO Schedules, Standard installation details, Termination Drawings, Panel and JB General Arrangement Drawings, Instrument Earthing and Power Distribution Drawings, Hook-up Drawings, Loop Drawings, Workpacks, SOW documents, Label & Furrule Schedules.
21. Strong understanding of plant design and equipment layout and ability to coordinate with other discipline design groups to progress a joined - up plant design.
22. Liaising with other disciplines as required.
23. Coordination and governance of Instrument workpacks for high value engineering centre.
