Overview
MERITUS are recruiting for a Head of Operations to join our exclusive Aerospace client as they continue to go through a large scale up. A confidential aerospace business is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to oversee manufacturing and operational performance. This role is pivotal in driving efficiency, quality, and delivery while building a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
Base pay range
£70,000 – £75,000 per annum. Greater Blackburn area. Aviation or defence background preferred.
Responsibilities
* Operational Leadership: Lead the monthly SIOP process, ensuring alignment of demand forecasting, capacity planning, material management, and resource allocation.
* Oversee manufacturing operations to achieve production schedules, cost targets, and quality standards.
* Drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity, utilisation, and efficiency while minimising waste.
* Work closely with senior leadership on operational initiatives aligned to customer requirements.
* Implement technology and process solutions to improve efficiency and delivery performance.
* Champion adherence to core manufacturing principles, focusing on OTD/OTIF, utilisation, and efficiency.
Process Management & Optimisation
* Manage capacity and resource planning to meet demand effectively.
* Optimise workflows to reduce costs, improve throughput, and shorten lead times.
* Use data-driven KPIs to measure and drive operational performance.
Compliance & Risk Management
* Ensure operations comply with aerospace regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.
* Lead risk management and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
* Maintain a safe working environment and promote health and safety leadership.
* Work with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with standards such as NADCAP and ISO9001, and drive effective resolution of non-conformances.
Team Leadership & Development
* Build, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team across multiple functions and shifts.
* Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
* Develop a long-term workforce plan to support business growth, succession, and skills evolution.
* Set clear expectations, conduct reviews, and provide feedback to enhance team performance.
Candidate Profile
* Time-served professional with 10+ years in a senior operations role within aerospace or advanced manufacturing.
* Proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering results.
* Strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and operational dynamics.
* Experience in KPI-driven environments, with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in complex manufacturing settings.
