Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for employee relations and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture? We’re looking for a proactive and people-focused Employee Relations / People Advisor to join our team at HRUC.
In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert guidance and hands-on support across a wide range of people matters, helping to shape a fair, engaging, and high-performing working environment. Reporting to a People Partner, you will provide guidance and support on people matters across HRUC, with a key focus on contributing to a positive working environment by assisting with people process and the vast range of employee related matters. The successful candidate will be adept at the managing large volumes of employee relation cases, including complex ER cases and redundancies. This role involves providing guidance and support managers through formal processes as well as advise on policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for people-related queries, offering clear, compassionate advice in line with employment legislation and HR best practice
Manage a high volume of employee relations cases, including complex disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence, and redundancy matters
Support and coach managers through formal processes, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance
Advise on HR policies and procedures, contributing to their development and implementation
Assist in resolving staff concerns with empathy and professionalism
Contribute to employee engagement initiatives that enhance wellbeing, performance, and satisfaction
Monitor and report on key people metrics, including ER trends, engagement levels, and performance indicators
Maintain accurate and compliant staff records, upholding the highest standards of data integrity
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a talented and motivated individual who can demonstrate:
Proven experience managing high volumes of ER casework, including complex cases and organisational change (e.g. redundancies)
Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and best practice across ER, performance, absence, and wellbeing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to advise and influence with integrity
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities
Flexibility to travel across college sites as needed
