Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month community team leader secondment. We are looking for a band 6 midwife with advanced community experienced to embrace this role that covers all areas across the county. You will be leading a team who are committed to the on-going promotion of women-centred care. You will also be joining an organisation that offers excellent career development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Band 7 Team Leader for Community Midwives

As a team leader you will co-ordinate the team and use your knowledge and experience to support the midwives in the team. You will case load your patients, providing continuity and support.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

11. Registered Midwife
12. Evidence of continuing professional development and its application
13. ENB 997

Desirable criteria

14. Diploma / Degree level
15. ALSO course
16. NLS course
17. Community midwifery experience 3+ years

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

18. Clinical Skills ie perineal suturing, IV Cannulation
19. Understanding of learning and teaching styles and their application
20. Ability to act as a mentor for Midwives, students and MCAs, skilled in teaching trained and untrained staff, carers and patients
21. Excellent communication skills with all members of the team, patients and relatives
22. Good verbal and written English which can be evidenced at interview or IELTs level 7 (in all elements) or above
23. Demonstrates effective management in the clinical environment
24. Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
25. Good previous attendance record

Desirable criteria

26. Evidence of managerial development
27. IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
28. Management of Change process

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

29. Clinical Skills ie perineal suturing, IV Cannulation
30. Ability to act as a PA/PS for students
31. Excellent communication skills with all members of the team, patients and relatives
32. Good verbal and written English which can be evidenced at interview
33. Demonstrates effective management in the clinical environment
34. Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
35. Home birth experience

Desirable criteria

36. Evidence of managerial development
37. IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
38. Experience of roster management
39. Experience of involvement in clinical audit

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential criteria

40. Ability to drive and cover night on-calls for birth setting

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
