We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Room Leader to join our team in Basingstoke and provide exceptional care and early childhood education to children in our nursery.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, ensuring their safety, development, and well‑being in a nurturing environment.
We are also looking for Practitioners for this setting so if you don’t feel ready to be a room leader just yet, still apply as we could look at the EYP role.
YOU MUST HOLD A LEVEL 2 or 3 QUALIFICATION IN CHILDCARE / EARLY YEARS OR EQUIVILANT FOR THIS ROLE.
Salary: £27,600 - £30,200 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Basingstoke
Duties
* Provide high‑quality care for children aged 0‑5 years, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
* Support and supervise playroom staff with their day‑to‑day duties.
* Plan and implement engaging educational activities that promote early childhood development.
* Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms.
* Implementation of the nursery key carer procedures and allocate children to key carers appropriately.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children to explore and learn.
* Ensure the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
* Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive team approach to childcare.
* Manage daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and play activities.
* Observe and assess children's development, documenting progress as required.
* Drive initiatives that promote leadership within the nursery setting.
Experience
* Hold a level 2 or 3 qualification or above within early years.
* Have excellent knowledge of EYFS guidelines.
* Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education.
* A background in managing or leading teams within a nursery or similar environment is advantageous.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, parents and colleagues.
