Job description: We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Designer to join the Cadillac Formula 1 Team at its new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will undertake the mechanical design & engineering of components/assemblies for our car sub-systems. This involves mainly the Cooling, Fuel, Pneumatic, Hydraulic & Exhaust Systems, with potential extension to other Powertrain Integration activities. Principal Accountabilities:
* Prepare schemes, layouts, and detailed drawings of car system parts, aiming for first-time right quality.
* Take ownership of your areas, ensuring they meet requirements, including fault finding and solutions based on rig/trackside feedback.
* Maintain technical liaison with other Cadillac departments, our Power Unit partner, and suppliers/users of your parts.
* Strive for an optimal balance between performance, reliability, and cost.
* Stay current with developments within your area of responsibility.
* Support sustainable manufacturing practices without compromising car performance.
Requirements:
* A degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline, with a 2:1 or higher classification preferred.
* Significant experience with high-end CAD systems, preferably Catia/3DX; training can be provided for other systems.
* Strong knowledge of race car system principles and physics.
* Design experience in Powertrain Integration, Cooling, Fuel, or Hydraulic systems, ideally in motorsport. Composite design experience is a plus but not essential.
* Interest in innovation, such as drawing inspiration from nature/other industries, adopting new technologies, additive manufacturing, AI tools, or automation.
* Inquisitive mindset, committed to continuous learning, adaptable to changing plans.
* Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Self-motivated, innovative, capable of working independently under challenging deadlines.
* Proficient in IT skills, including MS Office suite.
* Contribute positively to an inclusive and open culture.
