Support Young Learners in Their First Year of School We are seeking a caring, patient, and proactive Reception Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Wellingborough, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children at the start of their educational journey, supporting their social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Reception teachers to provide targeted support in the classroom, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence and independence. Your Role As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will support learning across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will help children participate in structured activities, play-based learning, and routines while promoting positive behaviour, social skills, and independence. Key Responsibilities Support teachers in delivering high-quality EYFS lessons Work with individuals or small groups to enhance learning Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development Observe and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers Assist with classroom preparation and organisation of learning resources Support children with personal care and daily routines as required Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding pupil needs Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with young children in an EYFS setting or similar Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic Be reliable, proactive, and organised Have good communication and teamwork skills Understand the developmental needs of Reception-aged children Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Relevant EYFS or childcare qualifications are desirable but not essential. Early Career Teaching Assistants are welcome and supported.
