We are looking for a dedicated SEN Support Worker to join a welcoming school in Ashington. This role involves providing 1:2 support to help a child with additional needs successfully reintegrate into the classroom setting. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to create a nurturing environment that promotes confidence, emotional regulation, and positive engagement with learning.
The Role
As an SEN Support Worker, you’ll:
Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil, helping them feel safe and included.
Support emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour through calm, consistent guidance.
Help the child develop social and academic skills to improve classroom participation.
Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to implement strategies that promote progress and wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting children with Autism, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
The ability to build strong relationships and adapt to individual pupil needs.
A nurturing and patient approach, with strong behaviour management skills.
A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
