Job Title: Deli Bar Assistant
Location: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Employment Type: Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Up to £24,169 plus enhancements, basic pay, and Serco benefits
Main Purpose
To provide a retail catering service that meets the expectations of patients, staff, and visitors in terms of quality, safety, and value for money. Deliver services within agreed KPIs and Service Level Agreements across the core restaurant, commercial outlets, and hospitality functions.
Main Accountabilities
1. Provide courteous and efficient catering services to patients, staff, and visitors, optimizing retail outlet productivity.
2. Prepare and serve food and drinks to accepted customer standards professionally and courteously.
3. Maximize retail sales through high levels of customer service and upselling.
4. Maintain hygiene standards by cleaning catering and service equipment.
5. Assist in delivering vending and catering services within stipulated timeframes.
6. Operate cash registers and handle cash securely.
7. Use, clean, and maintain coffee machines according to brand standards.
8. Promote retail promotions to maximize revenue and cost efficiency.
9. Maintain food safety, hygiene standards, and allergen awareness.
10. Follow health, safety, quality, and Serco policies, ensuring accurate documentation.
11. Care for and report faults in equipment promptly.
12. Store goods properly, rotate stock, and minimize waste.
13. Support team members, participate in meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement.
14. Demonstrate company values and uphold Serco Cares ethos.
15. Respond promptly to work activities, using judgment to prioritize tasks.
16. Maintain high hygiene and infection control standards.
17. Mentor and support new employees, assisting in training.
18. Inspect equipment visually before use and report faults.
19. Use judgment to balance customer needs and business priorities.
20. Communicate empathetically to enhance customer experience.
21. Wear correct uniform and protective clothing at all times.
22. Participate in training, team briefs, and audits.
23. Support continuous improvement initiatives and undertake ad hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements
* Barista experience is advantageous.
* Experience in retail catering is preferred.
* Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers.
* Strong customer care skills to enhance retail sales.
* Mandatory training in manual handling, risk assessment, fire safety, etc.
* Ability to follow instructions and work flexibly.
* Empathy and understanding, especially in supporting patients.
* Organized and efficient work approach.
* Safety-conscious with basic skills in food preparation and hygiene.
* Knowledge of Serco and Trust policies, including health and safety and infection control.
