We are looking for an enthusiastic Childcare Practitioners to support the Senior Family Worker with the delivery of a broad variety of informal learning opportunities through play and leisure activities for babies, children and young people. This post will require the successful candidate to plan and deliver age appropriate play opportunities and family learning programmes. You will be required to set and clear resources and equipment for play sessions, prepare healthy snacks and to provide support for children who need intimate or personal care. You will also be required to lead play sessions with parents/carers and work in partnership with other professionals to deliver programmes supporting all aspects of the child’s development.

The Person
1. Experience of working with children up to 14 years old in a play, care or learning environment.
2. Ability to support children with or without additional support needs.
3. Experience of forming good working relationships and working collaboratively in a team.
4. Manual Handling Training.
5. Knowledge of Health and Safety, management of risk in a play setting.
6. Basic IT Skills.
7. Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches.
8. Educated to SCQF level 7, which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent. HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ3 Playwork.
9. Have excellent communication skills to allow working in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals. Passing on general information to the parent/carer regarding aspects of the child’s welfare and participation in activities that their child has taken part in.
10. As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
11. If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.
12. If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
