Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of food preparation, kitchen management, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in maintaining the restaurant's reputation for excellence and fostering a positive, efficient working environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily operations and high standards of food preparation and presentation
* Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences
* Oversee food production, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely delivery of dishes
* Manage food safety protocols in compliance with health regulations and company policies
* Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the procurement of fresh ingredients at optimal prices
* Monitor inventory levels and manage stock control to minimise waste and maximise efficiency
* Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment according to hygiene standards
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
* Assist in serving customers when required, providing excellent hospitality experience
Requirements
* Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
* Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation
* Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead and inspire staff
* Solid knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene
* Experience in cooking across various cuisines with an emphasis on quality presentation
* Previous restaurant experience is essential, preferably in a Head Chef or senior culinary role
* Strong leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
* Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
* Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends if necessary
