Overview
Engineering Manager (Overhead Line Engineering) – Full Time or Part Time. Role based in York or Glasgow with Siemens Mobility Rail Electrification. You will report to the Head of Engineering (Design and Delivery) and lead the Overhead Line Engineering (OLE) function, delivering safe, reliable and innovative overhead line solutions for rail infrastructure projects and supporting the growth of the Electrification business.
Responsibilities
* Leading and inspiring the Overhead Line Engineering (OLE) team, providing clear direction and fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment
* Actively mentoring and coaching engineering team members, supporting recruitment, talent management and professional growth
* Planning and allocating resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of OLE design, installation and commissioning
* Building sustainable, strong relationships with internal teams, clients, suppliers, industry associations and Siemens business partners
* Developing and implementing strategies to enhance business efficiency, productivity and performance within the OLE function
* Preparing accurate bid responses, cost estimates and proposals for electrification projects
Qualifications
* BSc, Beng or Meng degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline
* Member of the IET or another recognised Professional Body
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
* Strong management, organisational and leadership skills
* Extensive knowledge and experience in OLE design, delivery and commissioning for rail projects
* Knowledge and experience with Traction Power installations and current UK rail initiatives (including light rail)
* Experience with direct client interface and representing the business to external parties
* Practical experience with the operational requirements of railway construction works (desirable)
