Overview
Kainos is seeking a Delivery Manager (Public Sector) to join our team in Birmingham, United Kingdom. You will be responsible for ensuring that Kainos’ innovative digital services and platforms meet user needs and the outcomes agreed with the client, while following governance and quality standards. You will empower and support Kainos teams to perform well, learn and grow in a manner consistent with Kainos values. You will leverage successful delivery and strong client relationships to explore opportunities to win follow-on business with existing customers.
Responsibilities
* Governance: Ensure appropriate project governance arrangements and technical quality standards are developed and followed throughout the project lifecycle. Effectively manage project risks and issues, escalating where appropriate. Ensure confidentiality and non-disclosure policies are followed and information security is maintained at all times.
* Delivery: Understand critical success factors for the project beyond traditional measures (on time, on budget, and scope) and ensure each work stream has a plan to achieve these factors. Achieve or exceed profitability targets and provide accurate, timely forecasting and reporting of project variables (revenue, staffing, work in progress, debt, etc.). Proactively manage client expectations and address issues promptly while identifying opportunities to add value.
* Team: Motivate and empower teams to create a positive culture where people can perform, learn and grow. Manage and develop a small number of staff, focusing on performance. Ensure clear goals, regular feedback, and timely appraisals. Provide learning and development objectives to acquire and maintain necessary project skills. Oversee staffing and onboarding of new team members. Build constructive, collaborative relationships with the client, other suppliers and third-party stakeholders.
* Business Development & Account Management: Support growth by working with Sales, Account Leads & Account Management teams; assist with the sales/procurement cycle to position Kainos for profitable new business. Promote successes through case studies, awards, blogs, and other channels. Understand contracts and commercial terms to ensure compliance and protect the business. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and drive alignment across capabilities. Encourage innovation in technology and process within and outside the project. Assist with recruitment activities to enable organizational growth.
* Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable success delivering software projects using agile methodology for external customers. UK public sector experience (central government). Substantial experience in managing and leading project teams, including line management responsibility. Evidence of developing and managing client-supplier relationships and knowledge of at least one industry vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Health, Government). Strong commercial awareness and interpersonal skills. Highly flexible (including willingness to work away from home base).
* Desirable: Experience in user research, analytics and design disciplines; evidence of securing significant follow-on business with an existing client. Holds a current and recognised Project or Programme Management certification. Experience of delivering digital transformation projects and driving improvements in management and leadership practices.
