Terminal Operator - Tug Driver
JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY
The Warehouse Tug Driver’s role is to facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound trailers are safely located in the yard and driven to the loading bays for loading and unloading. This includes ensuring brakes are on, trestles and chocks are used, and executing all other tasks related to warehouse tug operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures. Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and safe driving manner, following onsite speed limits.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor, the warehouse tug driver is responsible for tug operations, including locating trailers, driving, reversing onto loading bays, using trestles and chocks, opening and closing doors, securing load seals, and operating manual handling equipment as required. The role involves minimizing losses and damages during these processes.
Complete all tasks accurately to maintain organizational standards, ensure compliance with safety, quality, health, and environment procedures, and report any incidents or accidents immediately.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Locate trailers in the yard and perform relevant tasks.
* Drive safely around the site following traffic flow and speed limits.
* Ensure quality and accuracy in operations.
* Perform other duties as reasonably required, consistent with training and experience.
* Comply fully with health and safety requirements, including PPE and housekeeping.
* Complete pre- and post-use inspections on workplace transport and report any malfunctions or damages.
