Our transportation portfolio is primarily a UK based business working in three key sectors of rail, highways and aviation. We deliver programme, project and commercial management services to clients in mainland Europe, Africa, Middle East, India and Australasia and supporting other parts of the transportation business across the globe. Our vision is to deliver major transportation projects as part of a global business and to establish our wide-ranging consultancy as ‘credible’ and ‘preferred’ for our existing and new clients.
Overview of role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will manage your own projects or workstreams on major transportation projects. This role supports the development of our growing and diverse business while progressing your career. The focus is on building the business and supporting clients by delivering high-quality project and programme management services that contribute to society and improve communities.
What will the role offer?
You will have opportunities to work on some of the UK’s largest transportation projects, collaborating with key clients and industry experts. We focus on sustainability, social value, and technical excellence.
Potential areas include:
* Rail – supporting major rail infrastructure projects like Crossrail, HS2, and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
* Highways – working with National Highways on various UK projects.
* Ports – engaging with aviation and maritime projects at airports and other locations.
* Local Authority – supporting transportation projects involving rail, highways, and social value initiatives.

Main duties:
* Manage development, design, delivery, and handover of projects following processes, procedures, and governance protocols.
* Develop and maintain project management plans.
* Scope projects in line with objectives and clearly identify deliverables.
* Achieve key parameters of cost, time, and quality, addressing deficiencies proactively.
* Coordinate with H&S & CDM representatives to ensure compliance.
* Establish effective stakeholder and communication processes, including liaising with statutory and assurance bodies.
* Work across commercial, procurement, and project control functions to deliver within agreed parameters.
* Assess resource and competence levels in supply chains and address performance issues.
* Administer NEC contracts to ensure successful outcomes.
Candidate Specification
Required:
* Experience with large transport infrastructure projects.
* Membership of the APM and working towards chartership.
* Experience managing NEC contracts.
* Strong project management across disciplines and sectors.
* Leadership of large project teams.
* Commercial acumen, planning, and project controls knowledge.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
* Flexible approach and willingness to travel.
* NEC accreditation (3 or 4).
* Experience with Network Rail, National Highways, or similar UK organizations.
* Line management experience.
