Control Systems Engineer: Peterborough

The company has been delivering complex Control Systems for Process Control, Automation, and Telemetry to customers worldwide for over 30 years. Core skills include PLC, SCADA, HMI, MIS, MES, RTU, control system software engineering, data acquisition, bespoke software, LV Assemblies, and Electrical installation. Their expertise in panel building and electrical installation allows them to offer full turnkey solutions.
The role: The Control Systems Engineer will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring technical compliance and quality. Responsibilities include attending client meetings to discuss design, surveys, programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
The ideal candidate will have experience in similar environments and good knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, variable speed drives, and instrumentation products. Duties include:
1. Writing detailed functional design specifications
2. Configuring system architecture and network connections
3. Producing, modifying, testing, and commissioning SCADA & PLC software
4. UK site commissioning (may involve short periods away from home)
5. Managing and motivating a team of engineers (for lead positions)
Required Skills / Experience:
* Software Engineering Degree and/or Electrical qualifications
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* At least 2 years of control system experience
* Experience in PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi)
* Experience in SCADA development (Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FTViewSE, WinCC, ClearSCADA, Iconics)
* Clean UK Driving License
* Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Skills (training may be provided):
* Tender/Quote experience and Commercial understanding
* 17th or 18th Edition wiring Regulations, City & Guilds 2382
* Panel design, manufacture, or electrical installation experience (using CAD or ePLAN)

Hours: 08:30 – 17:15 (Monday to Thursday), 08:30 – 16:00 (Friday)
