About the role

Professionalising the investigation programme (PIP) level1

Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to recruit Police Staff Investigator for a position in Moonstone - the dedicated domestic abuse investigation and safeguarding team, based in Camborne.

Successful applicants must be hard working, motivated people able to work on their own initiative in a high pressure and dynamic role, investigating offences classified as domestic abuse and working with partner agencies to safeguard victims and those impacted by domestic abuse. They must have the highest values in line with the Code of Ethics and respect for Race and Diversity. Effective communication skills to engage and support victims and witnesses are vital.

The role involves detailed file completion and working to strict deadlines as part of a dedicated team of specialist investigators and safeguarding officers covering the county. Investigators will be expected to complete training to be able to accurately and consistently assess and record risk, plan and conduct suspect interviews, liaise with specialist evidence review teams and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Police staff investigators work as part of a mixed team of police officers and investigators managed by a sergeant. Investigators are expected to work a shift pattern of either day or late shifts covering the period 7am to midnight daily. The shift pattern operates 365 days a year and will include an expectation to work public holidays such as Christmas and New year if rostered to do so.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a busy team supporting some of the most vulnerable victims of crime, undertaking some of the most challenging and rewarding investigations at this level and making a real difference.
