Role Overview: The SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Case Officer plays a crucial role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate educational support and services. The role involves managing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans, liaising with families, schools, and other professionals, and ensuring compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and relevant SEND Code of Practice. Key Responsibilities: Manage and coordinate EHC needs assessments and the development, review, and annual review of Education, Health and Care Plans. Act as a point of contact for parents/carers, children and young people, educational settings, and external agencies. Provide advice and guidance to families and schools on SEND processes and legislation. Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the EHC planning process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and case files in compliance with data protection regulations. Support the SEND team in monitoring the progress and outcomes of children and young people with SEND. Assist with the preparation and presentation of reports, including recommendations to SEND tribunals where necessary. Work collaboratively with local authority services, health professionals, social care, and educational providers to promote inclusion and meet the needs of children with SEND. Support the continuous improvement of SEND services by contributing to policy development and service reviews. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, panels, and training sessions.Person Specification: Essential: Experience of working within SEND services, education, or social care, preferably in an administrative or casework capacity. Good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act 2014. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage sensitively with children, families, and professionals. Competent IT skills, including experience with case management systems and Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
