Business Development Manager (Software)
As a Business Development Manager (Software), you will be responsible for building a client base for Spectrum Digital's automation software solutions - using a full spectrum of sales tools and techniques.
Our current sales team use LinkedIn, strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations, referrals, and a strong business network to build pipeline. But we're still firm believers that one of the best ways to get in front of the right prospects is to pick up the phone and introduce ourselves.
This is a high-impact role within a high-performing digital sales team, reporting directly to the Sales Director for the department.
Why you'll be great in this role…
You'll be passionate about technology - but equally passionate about helping customers become more operationally efficient and effective.
You don't need to be an expert in intelligent automation on day one. If you're willing to learn, we'll teach you.
Our technology toolkit includes:
Optical character recognition (OCR)
* Electronic forms
* Digital workflow
* Analytics and reporting
* Robotic process automation (RPA)
* Low code development
An awareness of these technologies is helpful, but it's not essential on day one.
What success looks like
Within your first 3 months, you will:
* Build a strong understanding of Spectrum Digital - how we work, how we deliver value, and what makes our proposition different in the market
* Develop confidence in our core automation use cases and the business processes we typically help customers improve (including high-volume, repetitive, and time-consuming operational workflows)
* Gain a working knowledge of our technology stack, including OCR, electronic forms, digital workflow, analytics and reporting, RPA, and low code development
* Get clear on our key target personas - understanding who we sell to, the challenges they face day-to-day, and what typically triggers the need for automation
* Begin proactive outbound activity early, using a structured and consistent approach to phone-based prospecting alongside LinkedIn, referrals and partnerships
* Build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities, setting yourself up for strong performance through months 3-12
Key responsibilities
Pipeline & new business development
* Use a range of outreach approaches to open doors with prospective clients, particularly in wholesaler, distribution, manufacturing, and retail sectors
* Build and maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities, taking full ownership of activity and progression
* Book and lead first meetings with prospects through proactive outreach, including phone-based prospecting
Full sales cycle ownership
* Control the sales process from first appointment through discovery, product demonstration, business case creation, statement of work development, and securing sign-off
* Work with prospective clients to understand their needs, define the right solution, and demonstrate clear ROI
* Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline visibility, ensuring strong CRM discipline
Account growth & internal collaboration
* Transition between new business development and account management as you build your own customer base
* Coordinate internal Spectrum Digital resources to support the sales process end-to-end, including technical specialists and delivery teams
* Build long-term relationships that lead to repeat business and referrals
Why you'll love this role…
If you're entrepreneurial, ambitious, and looking to accelerate your career in technology and sales, this could be the role for you.
All our sales team are responsible for building and developing their own customer base. In that sense, this is a chance for you to build your "own business within our business" - backed by market-leading technology, a high-performing team, and some of the leading minds in intelligent automation.
It's also an opportunity to establish yourself as a key player in the fast-growing market of AI and automation, working with customers who genuinely benefit from smarter digital processes.
The role offers a company car, a competitive basic salary, and an uncapped commission structure - meaning your earnings are only limited by your appetite for success.

* Health & dental plans
* Birthday day off
* State-of-the-art offices
* Learning and development programmes, with the opportunity to progress your career through focused training and coaching
