Senior Highway Design Engineer (Drainage)
Location: Lancashire Contract: Full-time, Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Senior Highway Design Engineer (Drainage) to support the design and delivery of major highway and property schemes across Lancashire, contributing to regeneration, growth, and sustainable travel initiatives. The role also provides specialist drainage expertise across council services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the design and construction supervision of drainage elements for a wide range of highway and other infrastructure schemes, including the school building programme.
2. Produce Flood Risk Assessments and support planning applications.
3. Review external submissions for compliance with national and local standards, including SuDS.
4. Manage and mentor engineering staff.
5. Develop design solutions and prepare drawings, schedules, and technical documentation.
6. Collaborate with contractors, stakeholders, and partner organisations to ensure programmes are delivered efficiently.

What We’re Looking For
14. Strong technical background in drainage and highway design.
15. Demonstrable experience delivering projects to budget and programme.
16. Ability to lead and support junior team members.
17. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
18. Eligibility to work and be based in the UK.
19. Holds a UK driving licence and has access to a car.
