Our local authority client based in North London are urgently seeking an experienced Principal Estate Services Coordinator.
*£34.73 an hour Umbrella
Overview of the role
* The Principal Estates Coordinator supports and deputises for the Estate Services Area Manager to ensure estates are maintained to the highest possible standards of cleanliness, safety, security and appearance.
* They assist with staff management across the area team, including monitoring absence, performance, wellbeing, and health and safety.
* The role involves leading and supervising a team of caretakers, overseeing their training, development, conduct, and welfare in line with Council policies.
* On their allocated patch, they oversee the delivery and performance of estate services such as cleaning, grounds maintenance, communal repairs, estate improvements, and resident engagement. They take corrective action where needed and help maintain strong, consistent service delivery across the team.
Knowledge, experience, and skills
1. Proven experience in providing services to the public and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders
2. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of staff, to work flexibly and collaboratively, including leading their development and training, addressing conduct, performance, and disciplinary matters. Must manage your team’s work to ensure service priorities and targets are met and that Check ins are carried out regularly.
3. Significant skills, knowledge and experience of Health and Safety legislation and practice, relevant to the provision of caretaking and estate services. Must undergo all H&S training and study relevant to the post, including professional accredited H&S studies e.g., NEBOSH/IOSH or hold a formal qualification
4. Knowledge of estate services including grounds maintenance, refuse and recycling, repairs, and cleaning practices, with an ability to inspect and assess the quality of work undertaken, analyse information to aid the monitoring of service standards and take corrective management actions to address issues when necessary.
5. Strong verbal and written communications skills, with experience of letter and report writing, and ability to deliver presentations; able to successfully liaise with staff, managers, residents, other teams/ departments, councillors and MPs, external agencies, and contractors, with demonstrable experience of maintaining positive working relationships
