You’re a Quality Engineer, so you already know that it’s not about ticking boxes.
It’s about understanding why things are done the way they are.
It’s about questioning assumptions, noticing the detail others miss, knowing what matters… and making sure the job gets done properly.
As Quality Engineer, you’ll be part of a small, capable team in a company that’s still evolving. The kind of place where people are working hard to improve systems, raise standards and strengthen the operation. Not perfect, they’ll tell you that themselves. But heading in the right direction and looking for someone who can help shape what ‘better’ looks like.
This isn’t a role for someone who needs time to grow into it. The team’s lean, and they need a Quality Engineer who’s already got that strong technical foundation. Someone from a mechanical or manufacturing background, ideally in metals. Someone who can get stuck in from day one and be effective.
You’ll sit between the Quality Manager and Senior Quality Inspector, no direct reports, but plenty of influence. Especially when it comes to mentoring others supporting the inspection team, engineering, helping pass on what you’ve learnt along the way.
You’ll be the one asking the right questions, reviewing certs and drawings, talking to goods-in, working with suppliers, checking the detail. You’ll also be the steady hand when things aren’t quite right leading non-conformance investigations and helping the team resolve issues across both sites.
This isn’t about process for the sake of it. As a Quality Engineer, your view is that standards exist because they reflect best engineering practice not just to tick a box.
You’ll need to bring:
· A strong mechanical or engineering background
· In-depth knowledge of inspection, metrology and materials
· Confidence with hand tools, gauges and part inspection strategies
· A solid grasp of technical drawings
· Experience working with ISO 9001 (14001/45001 a bonus)
· Familiarity with MRP systems
· Exposure to DNV, Lloyds or similar certification standards
· A practical, sleeves-up mindset – you deliver your own work, but help others along the way
If you’ve started out as an Inspector, worked your way up, and still love being close to the product, this could be the perfect next step.
The Quality Manager’s also looking for someone with exposure to process auditing and Health & Safety or at least the appetite to learn.
What’s in it for you?
· £40,000 to £45,000 salary
· Monday to Thursday: 8am to 4.45pm, Friday: 8am to 12pm
· 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
· Bonus scheme
· Employee-owned business – when the company does well, you benefit too
This role is exclusive to Marshall Harmony – you won’t be contacted by any third parties. If you’d like more info or want to talk it through, send your CV to the email above.
