About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Search Manager to join JACK RYAN in Glasgow. This role drives SEO strategy, campaign performance, and client satisfaction through innovative, data‑driven approaches. You will define SEO direction, ensure timely delivery of client deliverables, and manage a growing SEO team within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
The Role
The Search Manager will be responsible for developing and executing SEO strategies that align with client objectives and business goals. You will oversee SEO project delivery, lead client communications, and collaborate across teams to integrate SEO with broader marketing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop comprehensive SEO strategies in collaboration with clients and the client services team, ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives.
* Lead and manage day‑to‑day SEO operations, overseeing implementation and ensuring all deliverables are on time, on budget, and of high quality.
* Act as the primary SEO subject matter expert (SME) and main point of contact for assigned clients.
* Identify growth opportunities and create account plans in partnership with Account teams.
* Build and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships with Client Services, Media, Content, and Creative teams.
* Oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of SEO campaigns, ensuring measurable results and achievement of KPIs.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to the SEO team, fostering professional growth and skill development.
* Conduct audits, analyses, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with clients.
* Continuously optimise SEO delivery processes and templates to improve efficiency.
* Stay up to date with evolving search trends, algorithm updates, and best practices in SEO and digital marketing.
Our Ideal Candidate
You will bring:
* Hands‑on technical knowledge and excellent client communication and presentation skills.
* Prior account management and SEO experience.
* Experience using complex software products such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, GSConsole, Google Marketing Platform products.
* Analytical, problem‑solving, organisational, and time‑management skills to manage multiple projects under strict timelines and budgets.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent project management skills.
* Experience in developing and implementing campaign strategies for clients while collaborating with management and team members.
Search Manager Qualifications / Skills & Experience
* Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent high‑pass (A‑level or Scottish equivalent).
* 3‑5+ years of experience in SEO, search engine marketing and/or website management/development.
* Experience integrating SEO into other marketing/advertising channels.
* Experience with keyword research/data mining tools and competitive analysis.
* Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Search Console.
* Experience with project and resource management.
* Advanced technical SEO implementation experience (on‑page factors, site architecture, CMS knowledge).
* Understanding of paid search engine marketing and how SEO and Paid search work together.
* Ability to communicate and present to C‑level contacts.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven writing ability with outstanding English grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
* Process‑driven mindset and familiarity with quality management systems.
* Strong Microsoft or Google Suite skills.
* Passion for online marketing and enterprise‑level problem‑solving.
* Comfortable communicating and presenting to C‑level contacts.
* Capable of working under strict timelines and budgets.
* Advanced on‑page SEO experience, including site architecture improvements.
* Experience with paid search integration.
