Reporting to: Campus Operations Manager Location: Harwell Campus ​ Harwell Campus is the UK’s leading Science and Innovation Campus, and home to some of the world’s most innovative businesses and scientific facilities. As a 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) between ARC and the UK Government (specifically the Science and Technology Facilities Council and the UK Atomic Energy Authority) it's purpose is to attract the investment and infrastructure required to support the ongoing development and expansion of Harwell Campus as a world class centre for scientific research and innovation. As JV partner, ARC is responsible for the management and development of the Campus as a whole. This includes buildings that are owned by the JV as well as facilities that are owned and managed by public sector partners like the European Space Agency, Science and Technology Facilities Council and Diamond Light Source. The JV’s built assets comprise 24 buildings totalling 624,000 square feet with a further 600,000 square feet on site and a development pipeline of over 2.4m square feet over the next 10 years. ​ Department Overview You will be a central member of the Campus Management Team which is responsible for ensuring that Harwell Campus provides a consistently highly quality and engaging environment for some of the worlds most dynamic innovators. The team is responsible for every aspect of the day to day management of the Campus, delivering high quality services ranging from landscaping and infrastructure maintenance through to facilities management and hospitality. ​ Role Overview You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards are met across the Campus as the face of ARC for both our members and suppliers. ​ Key Responsibilities ​ You will assist the Campus Operations Manager in all aspects of the operational management of Harwell Campus, including but not limited to the following: ​ ​ Requirements Essential Providing an engaging and responsive point of contact for ARC’s members on all matters relating to the management of the Campus, and their building (if applicable) Assist in the preparation and effective implementation of maintenance programmes for our buildings and assets to ensure a high standard of presentation, reliability of services and statutory compliance. Assist in the maintenance and reporting of operational budgets and service charges. Maintain good relationships with all key suppliers and contractors to ensure we can deliver a timely and effective response to corrective works. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets to ensure sufficient resourcing will be available to maintain presentational standards. W ork with H&S & Compliance colleagues to ensure all policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, with appropriate reporting requirements met in a timely fashion. To maintain appropriate oversight of all contractors working on Campus and ensure compliance and management standards are being met, with disruption minimised at all times. Working with the wider Campus and Asset Management team to ensure orders to service providers and purchase orders for all corrective works are issued, and followed up to ensure tasks are actioned quickly, to a high standard and fully completed before invoices are signed off for approval. Monitoring and reporting on performance against service charge budgets. Coordinate works taking place in managed buildings to help minimise disruption. Assist Members undertaking fit out works to ensure they are well managed and comply with the requirements of their Lease. Supervise / oversee all such works to ensure minimal disruption for other building occupants and the wider campus population Outstanding inter-personal skills. Ability to work well within a team. Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work. Good written and verbal communication skills. A high level of computer literacy. A sense of curiosity and eagerness to learn. A practical, can-do approach to problem solving, taking ownership to drive tasks to a successful conclusion. ​ ​ Beneficial Experience of coordinating and managing suppliers and contactors and monitoring SLAs and KPIs. Some workplace experience in H&S Good organisational skills.
