Overview
PowerGen Technical Support Engineer role within the PowerGen Technical Support team. Provides technical support across Rolls-Royce Solutions power products and balance of plant for complete power systems, from concept to end of life. Responsible for day-to-day technical support of Sales solutions, aftersales and parts inquiries raised internally and externally. Some support of the wider PowerGen Business Unit may be required to cover annual leave, absence and periods of high demand.
Primary product range includes Diesel and Gas power, MTU KP/P and Battery Energy Storage Systems, with a willingness to develop knowledge in emerging products.
Responsibilities
* Promote a zero-harm culture by ensuring HSQE requirements are met for all team activities.
* Provide first-class customer liaison and fulfil reasonable technical support requests.
* Provide technical support for Sales Solutions, aftersales support, and our end users/customer base on the Rolls-Royce Solutions product range, including electrical, mechanical and controls, for the UK, Ireland and overseas territories where applicable.
* Maintain project technical files (drawings, wiring diagrams, O&M manuals, etc.) in electronic and/or hard copy form.
* Design, build, test and commission control circuits as required to complement the Rolls-Royce product portfolio.
* Keep accurate records via the CEC platform of working tasks.
* Lead the resolution of technical issues to ensure timely completion; follow up tasks after handover to CCC to confirm resolution.
* Support and provide input to the development and review of Work Instructions, processes and the spare parts database within the PowerGen Business Unit.
* Provide technical reports and/or presentations to internal management and external end users as required.
* Write Method Statements and support the writing of Risk Assessments for all areas of the PowerGen BU.
* Maintain liaison with internal and parent company departments; participate in cross-department interactions.
* Visit integrators and customers to build long-term relationships. Attend customer witness testing to ensure specification compliance and customer satisfaction when required.
* Support and (at times) deliver training programs as required.
* Lead development of new technical solutions to support the PowerGen team.
* Continual improvement of technical competence to support aftersales of all products and related Rolls-Royce Solutions processes.
* Support the PowerGen Business Unit service team with technical support; occasional site visits may be required.

Person Profile / Qualifications
* Enthusiastic with good communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team; effective task management and prioritisation.
* Qualified or willing to work towards MTU power products and balance of plant knowledge; mechanical and electrical experience to deliver required aftersales and service support.
* Willingness to travel within the UK & ROI; may spend time overseas including product training in Germany.
* Office-based role with expected travel; ability to work with other members of the wider business.
* Computer literacy with good keyboard skills; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, email). On-the-job training for Rolls-Royce Solutions programs and software (including SAP, C4S, CCC, MTU Go Care, MTU Business Portal & Warranty System).
* Full and clean UK Driving Licence and Passport due to security clearance requirements.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken); strong literacy and numeracy; capable writer of business letters and emails; strong background in high-level data analysis and end-to-end processes.
* Minimum 5 years experience; appropriate qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent; willingness to work towards Professional registration with the Engineering Council; GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
