An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic finance function based in Montrose.
Depending on experience, the role may be shaped to include more advanced responsibilities aligned with a Management Accountant level.
This role supports the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in delivering high-quality financial information and is perfect for someone who thrives on accuracy, collaboration and continuous improvement.
About the role
You will contribute to month-end management accounting, statutory reporting and budget support, with scope to lead on these areas depending on experience.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Assisting with month-end postings and contributing to management reporting with accuracy and insight.
* Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, partnering with stakeholders across the business.
* Maintaining weekly cashflow reports and updating freight/sales data models to support financial analysis.
* Assisting with audit preparation and the development of statutory accounts in line with IFRS.
* Providing timely responses to statutory inquiries and internal reporting needs.
* Collaborating with the wider finance team to support tasks, enhance efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
* For candidates with more advanced experience, there may be scope to take ownership of reporting cycles, lead stakeholder engagement and contribute to strategic financial planning.
What we are looking for
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* At least 5 years’ experience in finance or accountancy roles
* Strong working knowledge of Excel and solid general IT skills
* The initiative to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
* A team-focused mindset and willingness to contribute across all levels
* A constructive and solutions-driven style when tackling challenges and improving processes
