Temporary Works Supervisor - Equipment Management 1102CW Hinkley Point C, Somerset £250 PAYE or £345 Umbrella per day Long-term Contract Job Purpose / Overview: The Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) Site Wide and overseeing Temporary Works Equipment Management is responsible for managing the Temporary Works for the Hinkley Point C construction project working on site for the Principal Contractor (PC) in line with the recommendations in BS 5975: 2024 Part 1 & Part 2 - Code of Practice for Temporary Works Contextual Information: The Hinkley Point C Project is split into programmes aligned to either plant islands or disciplined based scope. Each programme will be delivered in part by EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) resources and in part through one or more (interrelated) major contracts. The design is delivered by designer and accepted by the technical lead in NNB Client organisation. Once accepted, the design is released to site for construction and to Site Engineering to manage any permanent works design changes raised by the construction contractor on site. Operating Environment: The NNB Temporary Works Team is based on site at the Hinkley Pont C construction site and work from site offices with regular site visits as required. Framework & Boundaries Each Contract Partner on site is delivering their own Temporary Works for their construction packages, they are contracted to construct and as a result they have their own Temporary Works Procedures, Temporary Works Coordinators and Temporary Works Supervisor. The NNB Temporary Works Supervisor will work closely with the Contract Partners for the development and delivery of Temporary Works on site. Principal Accountabilities: The Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) Site Wide and overseeing Temporary Works Equipment Management is responsible for all of the Temporary Works under their control as a Principal Contractor on site following the recommendations of BS 5975: 2024 and the NNB Temporary Works Standard. The TWS will be required to: - • 75% of time will be spent on site, carrying out inspections, ensuring compliance and dealing with issues as required • Fulfil the TWS requirements as highlighted in BS 5975:2024. • HPC can be considered a unique construction site situation where materials and equipment will be utilised over a significant time, and with potentially repeated significant loading. As such, the PC will ensure the Tier 1s are effectively managing their assets which are in long term usage in accordance with the relevant legislation and PC site standards. You will be expected to oversee the management of Equipment for the PC on site. • It is noted some Equipment will be under BS 5975 as Temporary Works but allot of Equipment will not and may fall under LOLER (BS7121) and / or PUWER. In additions there is equipment that will not fall under PUWER such as structures on site that still require inspection and maintenance oversight. • Oversee the contractors on site material management of Equipment in line with the requirements of PUWER 1998 and BS 5975. Noting some of this equipment will come under BS 5975 and some will not. • Undertake site verification of the contractor’s management of Equipment in line with the requirements of PUWER 1998 and BS 5975. Noting some of this equipment will come under BS 5975 and some will not. • Ensure work is completed to the satisfaction of the Principal Temporary Works Coordinators. • Ensure work as assigned by the Principal Temporary Works Coordinators is completed in the agreed timescales • Assist the Temporary Works team with compliance of Principal Contractor Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) duties with respect to the delivery of Temporary Works (as required). • Provide advice to Project and Construction teams on Temporary Works matters • Ensure the execution of Works are in accordance with approved risk assessments, method statements, design, and specification. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Knowledge & Skills The TWS will have broad knowledge of construction techniques with expertise in Temporary Works Construction Methods. Specifically, he / she will have good working knowledge of BS 5975: 2024. He / she will possess suitable interpersonal skills and have solid experience in the role on a variety of Major Projects. • Organisation, delegation, and communication skills. • Experience of working collaboratively in a team by motivating and energising staff. By building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinions. • Experience in Temporary Works construction methods. • Previous working experience in the management and delivery of large complex multi-disciplinary Temporary Works projects. Experience of working simultaneously with multiple contractors is desirable. • A proven record of liaising with multiple internal stakeholders on a major construction project. • An understanding of document and drawing approvals processes. • A strong understanding of the requirements of PUWER for Equipment Inspections and maintenance. • Strong communication skills. Essential • Prepared to be out on site for approximately 75% of the working week • Experience of Temporary Works on a construction project • Demonstrable experience working as a Temporary Works Supervisor for a contractor on a construction site. • A strong understanding of the PUWER requirements for inspection and maintenance of equipment and what a contractor must provide as evidence of this • A strong understanding of what records are required for the inspection and maintenance of equipment on site Desirable • Previous experience of the Hinkley Point C construction project • Knowledge and understanding of the type of Temporary Works a Mechanical Contractor will undertake from working on a previous construction project Qualifications & Experience Essential • A minimum of 5 Years’ experience in Civil / Mechanical Engineering • Demonstrable experience of working for a contractor on a construction site as a Temporary Works Supervisor. • The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Temporary Works Supervisor Desirable • Confined Spaces • The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) Basic Scaffold Inspector • Advanced Scaffold Inspector
