Job Overview
As a Domain Architect within the NCGI portfolio, you will work across diverse, complex, and secure systems. You will innovate, collaborate, and drive successful delivery by partnering with key stakeholders to realise the maximum business value.
Responsibilities
* Architecture experience – work within a complex programme and solution ecosystem, focusing on your areas of responsibility while keeping the big picture in mind by building relationships within and outside the team.
* Design – accountable for High‑Level Designs (HLD) of complex solution changes encompassing multiple technologies and areas of expertise.
* Inclusive – lead as Solution Lead, encouraging open communication and fostering an environment of safety and innovation.
* Delivery – enable and support implementation of project elements, proof‑of‑concepts and other technical deliverables through to Service Acceptance.
* Collaborative – work with programme leadership and cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Security, Service) aligned to SAFe‑based iterative execution.
* Growth – work closely with customer stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of delivered capability, identifying solution gaps and converting them to credible propositions for future business.
* Supplier Management – work closely with existing and new suppliers, as required by customer suggestion or agreed requirements.
Required Skills
* Provide overarching architectural guidance.
* Architect modernisation of capability (systems, applications, platforms).
* Technical Design – application integration & hosting (on‑prem and cloud), data migration, transition and transformation.
* Experience in delivering applications within a complex environment:
o Enterprise business applications
o Understanding of LAN, WAN networking
o Integration of business processes/workflows with COTS/GOTS software
o End‑user environments (VMware, Horizon, SCCM)
o Containers and microservices integration
o Agile and DevOps delivery concepts
o Bid experience in public sector/defence (advantage)
* Work under pressure in large multidisciplinary teams on tight schedules.
* Lead architecture and engineering teams within larger projects.
* Engage stakeholders across product design, service design, and operations.
* Estimating and planning skills to support project and agile planning.
* Strong communication skills – produce written, verbal, and visual deliverables, explaining complex topics concisely to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Desired Skills
* Security Architecture including Secure by Design.
* Experience with MoD Architecture and Solution processes and methods.
* Familiarity with enterprise geospatial systems.
* Bid experience in public sector/defence (advantage).
Clearance Required
* Clearance to role – DV (with ability to gain STRAP).
