Location: Avon and Somerset Police HQ in Portishead and hybrid working

Contract Type: Parental leave cover | 12 month post

About the Role

As an HR Business Partner, you will act as the critical interface between HR and the organisation. This is a stretching and wide-ranging role that allows you to lead on the people agenda for your designated area and contribute to force-wide strategies. You will shape and implement strategic HR initiatives, support organisational development and drive continuous improvement.

This position offers the opportunity to influence senior stakeholders, lead key programmes of work and see the direct impact of your contributions on organisational outcomes and performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement business-specific people strategies, providing strategic HR advice to leaders
* Act as a trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders on a broad range of people matters
* Lead the design and delivery of HR solutions that modernise working practices and support high performance
* Analyse workforce data and people metrics to identify trends and inform decision-making
* Drive organisational development and cultural change programmes aligned with force priorities
* Lead on key people projects in support of the overall People strategy

About You

We are looking for individuals with:

* Experience working in a complex and fast-paced environment
* The ability to build strong relationships and influence senior leaders
* A creative, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to challenge constructively
* A collaborative approach with strong communication and analytical skills
* Manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes

Essential Skills and Experience

* Chartered Member of CIPD (MCIPD), or relevant HR experience with a willingness to work towards CIPD accreditation within 2 years
* Proven experience delivering complex HR programmes, including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions and senior stakeholders
* In-depth knowledge of HR policy, strategy and best practice
* Experience translating complex HR information into clear, actionable advice
* Strong capability in using data to drive strategic people decisions
* Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and prioritise a varied workload

Additional Information

* This is a blended working role primarily home-based with regular travel across the force area as required
* Applicants must have a three-year checkable history in the UK (i.e. residency in the UK for the last three years)
