Overview
A working supervisor responsible for the direct supervision of the kitchen, ensuring the patient meals are cooked and delivered in a professional manner whilst maintaining strict hygiene practices and adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for preparing, cooking and presenting high quality, nutritious, safe food for patients, including those with specific dietary requirements, adhering to all hygiene legislation, HACCP principles and Trust policies. This will include looking for ways to develop specialist menus in order to continuously improve the service.
Responsibilities
* Supervise staff working within the main kitchen.
* Build good working relationships with Dietitians, Ward staff and Ward Nutritionists to ensure the smooth running of the service.
* Prepare, cook and present high quality, nutritious meals in line with dietary requirements and hygiene standards.
* Monitor hygiene practices and ensure compliance with hygiene legislation and HACCP principles.
* Develop specialist menus to continuously improve the service where appropriate.
* Accurately complete required documentation and maintain records.
* Support patients by providing meals in a timely and attentive manner; frequent contact with patients on wards.
Benefits
* 20 days annual leave plus public holidays, enhancements for weekends and public holidays, with no split shifts; 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Weekend off every other.
* Working in a hot environment, or in continuous chilled environment (as applicable).

Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience supervising staff in a kitchen environment.
* Ability to work with Dietitians, Ward staff and Ward Nutritionists to support service delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to develop specialist menus and improve service quality.
* Strong organisational skills with accurate documentation and monitoring of staff and processes.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to hygiene regulations and HACCP standards.
