Location: Dudley
Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 DOE
We are currently representing a well-established engineering business based in Dudley, specialising in precision manufacturing and supply of high-quality bespoke machined and fabricated projects across a range of industries.
They are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team, ensuring all products meet specifications while supporting quality control and health & safety compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
Quality Engineer Job Overview
Inspect goods on arrival and throughout production (Machine Shop, Fabrication, Welding, Assembly)
Measure products on the shop floor using micrometres, verniers, Faro Arm, CNC CMM, and other inspection tools
Work independently with engineering drawings in hand, interpreting technical symbols and specifications
Produce full dimensional reports and maintain calibration of measurement equipment
Raise, resolve, and manage NCRs, concession requests, and production permits
Conduct internal quality audits and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
Support health & safety compliance including daily shop floor inspections, COSHH, risk assessments, PPE control, and first aid duties
Quality Engineer Job Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including welding symbols
Hands-on experience with micrometres, verniers, Faro Arm, CNC CMM, or equivalent measurement tools
Comfortable being self-reliant on the shop floor, measuring components accurately with drawings in hand
Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar quality inspection role in manufacturing
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
Knowledge of BS 8888:2020 Technical Product Specification
BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor qualification (Lead Auditor preferred)
NVQ/SVQ Level 3-4 or HNC/HND in Mechanical / Production Engineering
Qualification in Dimensional Metrology
NEBOSH General Certificate, TechIOSH, CQI Practitioner or Member
Quality Engineer Salary & Benefits
Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per year, potentially up to £40,000 for the right candidate
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:30, Friday 07:00-12:30
