Preston City Council is an employer with a diverse workforce who is looking to recruit a (Senior) Health and Safety Advisor.
Reporting to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager, a key part of the role involves providing health and safety assistance and advice to managers/staff throughout the Council, making it essential for you to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.
It is desirable that you hold a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent and have practical knowledge in a wide variety of health and safety activities including auditing, workplace inspections, advising on fire procedures, DSE assessments, investigating/reporting of incidents, occupational health aspects and training.
You will be involved with developing and updating council policies/procedures as well as working closely with sections such as Parks, Waste Management and on events on council land.
In addition, you will support the Corporate Health and Safety Manager in their role as Emergency Planning Officer including, when trained, being part of an on-call rota for emergencies.
The council operates a flexi-time scheme, hybrid working is available and has a generous leave entitlement.
This is a career graded position and training to NVQ Level 5 Diploma standard will be provided, allowing the successful applicant to develop and progress to Grade 10 should all criteria be successfully met.
