Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Ballymoney, requires a Climate Change Lead Officer to join their team.
Location: Ballymoney
Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Friday
Main Duties:
1. Support the leadership, coordination, management, and development of the Council's response to the challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation to achieve net zero targets, including research, development, and performance management.
2. Ensure the Council meets its statutory and strategic objectives related to climate change across the organization.
3. Manage allocated financial and physical resources assigned to climate change and resilience activities, including preparing annual estimates and managing approved budgets.
4. Coordinate, lead, and chair the Climate Action Team (CAT) within the Council.
5. Develop effective collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including government departments, through research, development, implementation, and monitoring of actions and initiatives.
6. Lead economically advantageous borough-wide projects that help secure emission reductions and mitigate climate change.
7. Collaborate with external funding sources and the Council's internal funding team to identify funding opportunities and support the preparation of funding bids.
8. Ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements, adhering to governance and health and safety standards.
9. Carry out responsibilities in a timely and effective manner, maintaining confidentiality in all work areas.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
* A degree or equivalent in Environmental Management, Renewable Technologies, Environmental Sustainability, or relevant discipline.
* At least two years' experience demonstrating:
o Development and delivery of project strategy;
o Effective stakeholder engagement and partnership working;
o Analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data-based evidence.
Additional Requirements:
* Experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Knowledge of climate change issues and mitigation strategies.
* A full current UK driving license (Category B) and access to a vehicle, or alternative transport to meet job requirements.
* Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
