Overview
Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. We have a great opportunity for a Street Lighting Electrician to work on a street lighting contract, specialising in the maintenance, installation, and repair of street lighting across various locations in Cheshire and occasionally across other parts of the North West. The ideal candidate will ensure that street lighting operates efficiently and safely, contributing to public safety and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities
* Install, maintain, and repair street lighting, including wiring, fixtures, and feeder pillars.
* Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in street lighting.
* Schedule inspections and test and inspect to BS standards.
* Operate mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) to access lighting equipment at heights.
* Respond to emergency lighting issues, restoring service promptly to minimize disruption.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including materials used.
* Test and inspect electrical systems in compliance with BS standards and perform tasks such as SWA jointing and installing cutouts.
* Participate in emergency call-out rota.
* Complete necessary documentation on electronic devices or paperwork, such as job sheets.
* If applicable, install traffic management (Chapter 8), including signage and guarding.
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.
* Protect the safety of the workforce, the public, and vehicles by ensuring that all works are properly secured and managed.
Qualifications & Skills
* Fully qualified electrician, holding an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent qualification.
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (BS) or equivalent.
* Previous experience in street lighting, or similar work.
* City & Guilds or equivalent testing and inspection qualification.
* Strong understanding of UK electrical standards, particularly related to public infrastructure.
* Full, clean UK driving licence, with a preference for candidates holding a category C1 licence.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
