Are you looking for a Health Visitor role that offers variety, where you are supported by a team of practitioners, along with a clear development path, including the opportunity to become a dual qualified SCPHN Nurse, which can lead to strategic Band 7 and 8 roles?

Working within Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Services provides a unique environment with clear visibility of senior management, including our Managing Director, who are approachable and supportive. You will feel listened to and have platforms to voice your ideas.

On behalf of the NHS, Essex County Council, and WECCG, HCRG Care Group and Barnardos are commissioned to provide a range of children, young people, and family services throughout Essex that are free at the point of delivery.

We aim to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children and families in the community, for the community, and with the community.


Main duties of the job

There is a Healthy Family Team located within every District of Essex, comprising a multidisciplinary team including Health Visitors, School Nurses, and colleagues working together to provide family support.

As a Health Visitor, your responsibilities will include:

1. The delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, including assessment of health needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of care packages.
2. Using the Family Health Needs Assessment tool to plan and evidence care.
3. Devising and implementing individualized care plans for each child based on needs assessments, involving the child/parent/carer/family in planning and support.
4. Identifying and assessing health, growth, and development in children aged 0-5 (0-19 Pathway).
5. Using the Early Help Assessment Tool for unmet needs.
6. Participating in effective partnership working with other agencies and taking a lead professional role when appropriate.
7. Using evidence-based practice to maintain high standards in Specialist Public Health Nursing/Health Visiting practice.

You will also develop leadership skills through mentorship roles with pre-registration and SCPHN students and provide preceptorship support to new staff members.

Job description


Job responsibilities

Candidate requirements

* Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification (SCPHN).
* Current NMC registration as a qualified nurse.
* Experience in interventions to improve outcomes and safeguard children and families.
* A passion for driving positive change and innovative improvements.
* A valid UK driving license and access to a car.
