Responsibilities
* Support the partner and associate in their work and responsibilities.
* Be responsible, under supervision, for your own caseload of work and revenue targets and act as an effective fee‑earner on larger matters.
* Deliver a first‑class client experience at all times.
* Assist in the Group’s business development activity in a manner suited to your proven strengths.
* Delegate and supervise work done by the Group paralegal / trainee solicitor resource as appropriate.
* Participate and contribute to the group to ensure an effective working environment, supporting Associates, Partners and other fee‑earners on complex matters.
* Attend the firm’s training programmes and other relevant technical training to keep skills and knowledge up‑to‑date.
* Attend and contribute to group meetings.
* Maintain awareness of the legal market specifically relating to dispute resolution and IP, IT and Telecommunications.
* Annually participate in a meeting to discuss and agree your personal objectives.
* Encourage a culture where individuals identify problems or mistakes and “speak up” to resolve issues.
* Attend client meetings and court hearings, including appearances with counsel, as required.
* Undertake and report research on specific issues as required.
* Advise clients on relevant areas of law, manage lawful risk and solve problems.
* Contribute to the Group’s Business Development Plan: draft articles, attend seminars, networking events and organise events; attend such events on occasion.
* Ensure achievement of your own key financial targets: fees, contributions, payment of debts and disbursements.
* Maintain accurate time recording data and matter case notes, including detailed attendance records.
* Monitor performance relative to live files, file closures, billing and time recording; take action to meet targets.
* Scope all matters appropriately, using budget templates and delivering work on time and on budget.
Qualifications
* Proven experience of Commercial Dispute Resolution work; IP experience preferable.
* In‑depth knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
* Strong time‑management skills to meet client and internal deadlines.
* Deliver first‑class client care; work with a wide range of clients with differing objectives.
* Work effectively within a team and support other fee‑earners as appropriate.
* Competent IT skills.
* Draft documentation with attention to detail.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, both in writing and verbally.
* Convey technical legal information in an effective and accessible way.
