Join to apply for the Deputy Ward Manager role at NHS.

The post holder is responsible for and will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence, managing in-patient services.


Responsibilities

* Assist in developing the team in all aspects of clinical governance and ensure that Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) policies and procedures are adhered to.
* Lead and support the ward team in the absence of the Ward Manager, ensuring high standards of clinical care and service delivery for in-patients.

We are seeking to recruit a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to complement our team. The post involves leading a multidisciplinary team and working closely with nursing, therapy and medical staff to provide excellent nursing care based on evidence and core values of Powys Teaching Health Board.

The Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager will be responsible for assisting the Ward Manager in leadership, management and development of the nursing team, acting as a role model, coordinating staff training and ward coverage using e-rostering, undertaking appraisals and managing the ward in the Ward Manager’s absence.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential: 1st Level Registered Nurse; up-to-date portfolio and evidence of professional development
* Desirable: Evidence of post-basic academic studies at diploma or degree level
* Essential: Significant experience as a registered nurse; ability to demonstrate professional achievements and activity in meeting clinical governance requirements; experience and qualifications as a mentor to student nurses and to support their placements
* Desirable: Ability to work effectively with other team members and a post-basic qualification with ongoing supervision in a defined therapeutic clinical intervention

* Desirable: Flexibility to facilitate groups in evenings or weekends

* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Evidence of leadership and achievement in driving and motivating a staff team
* Awareness of national developments and standards; knowledge of nursing interventions with up-to-date evidence
* Illuminates information literacy (I.M. & T.) and its use
* Desirable: Experience in management/leadership training and teaching/facilitation of groups


Other Requirements

* Able to work shifts
* Current UK professional registration
