Are you ready to take the next step in your cardiology nursing career? We are offering an exciting full time, permanent opportunity for a band 6 senior staff nurse to join A7 and lead by example in our busy and rewarding unit.
A7 is a 25 bedded cardiology ward incorporating a 5 bedded CCU (level 2 care) and 20 step down beds with cardiac monitoring and telemetry.
We care for patients admitted from the Heart Assessment Centre, London Ambulance Service, tertiary referrals and ED, with conditions including acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, and post procedural cases such as TAVI and MitraClip. We also support step downs from ITU requiring ongoing specialist cardiology management.
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will:
1. Provide strong clinical leadership, supporting and inspiring junior colleagues.
2. Ensure safe, high quality, evidence based patient care.
Play a key role in service improvement, staff development, and patient experience.
3. Act as a clinical role model in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

Main duties of the job
7. Providing high quality, effective, individualised nursing care to patients by assessing their needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care plans without supervision.
8. The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
9. To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care with supervision from senior staff.
10. To support the ward manager to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients. Maintaining accurate clinical observations of patients, utilising nursing skills and competencies.
11. To manage a group of staff nurse and healthcare support workers within their shifts, assign delegated tasks and responsibility as appropriate.
12. Assisting in the teaching and development of nursing team, healthcare support workers and pre-registration students, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
13. To ensure the compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements for delegated nursing staff and healthcare support workers.

Essential criteria
14. Registered Nurse – Valid NMC PIN
15. Relevant Specialist course CCU/HDU/Cardiac Surgery
16. Practice Supervisor/Assessor qualification
17. Immediate Life Support certificate
Desirable criteria
18. Educated to Degree level
19. Advanced ECG Course
Experience
Essential criteria
20. Significant experience of caring for level 1 and 2 patients in a coronary care setting or heart attack centre.
21. Ability to manage a group of level 1 and 2 patients independently
22. Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
23. NIV/CPAP training/experience
Desirable criteria
24. Bed Management
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
25. Clear understanding of complex cardiac arrhythmia’s and treatment
26. Pre and Post interventional procedure care
27. Ability to manage complex discharges, supporting the team with providing end of life/palliative care needs, managing safeguarding concerns.
28. A knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision
