We are looking to recruit a gynaecology nurse with an interest in urogynaecology / continence nursing into this vacancy
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed nurse with a keen interest in this area of specialist gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
Working within the Women’s Health Department, the post holder will support the gynaecology department ensuring high quality and safe care and will facilitate and develop the Uro-Gynaecology service in line with evidence based practice. The post holder will support the lead consultant and the Matron for Gynaecology and work closely with them to ensure that care is patient centred. The post holder will educate other staff in the speciality and provide information to patients as required. The post holder will strive to provide a good patient experience in a safe environment

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES
Clinical:
·To assist in all areas of gynaecology/Women’s Health as required.
·To ensure a high quality of service is met with adherence to national safety standards.
·To refer patients to other clinicians as appropriate and seek consultant advice as necessary. Escalate any concerns to the lead consultant/matron.
·To work in collaboration with all members of the MDT.
·To attend MDT meetings on a regular basis.
·To adhere to professional guidelines, develop and follow local policy and adhere to patient pathways.
·To provide clinical expertise in the diagnostic use of uro-gynaecological investigations and specialist nursing intervention so that the specific needs of individuals are addressed within the speciality.
·To perform specialist urodynamic investigations and report findings to appropriate staff and advise on treatment when required.
·To provide counselling and support to women undergoing uro-gynaecological investigations/treatment who may be distressed.
·To undertake outpatient clinic sessions eg ring pessary clinics, post partum, urodynamics..
·To develop nurse led guidelines.
Managerial:
·To manage clinic sessions and strive to ensure maximum attendance.
·To ensure patients are referred to MDT as necessary.
·To ensure patients are given appropriate follow up and they are informed of results through a structured patient pathway and understand the failsafe system and ensure compliance.
·To develop and keep up to date relevant policies and guidelines in accordance with Urogynaecology National recommendations, and present for ratification at relevant Trust committees. Develop a communications strategy for medical and nursing staff and ensure that it is carried out.
·To advise and support professional initiatives within uro-gynaecology, working closely with consultants, the matron and other relevant clinical professionals.
·To provide leadership for nursing staff and education within the specialism of urogynaecology. Liaise with the matron/lead consultant to develop own practice including advanced nursing practice and specialist skills.
·To ensure clinical governance standards are maintained and comply with Trust policy.
Educational:
·To participate in research and audit as required and present findings at Trust audit meetings. Ensure outcomes are monitored and improvements implemented.
·To form local, national links and network at educational events within area of specialism.
·To be responsible for providing a proactive learning environment, education and teaching for nursing, medical staff and students.
·To provide health education to patients in relation to general health, gynaecology and uro-gynaecology.
·Develop teaching skills and participate in staff/medical teaching programmes.
·To supervise students as required.

9. •To work with the service manager/lead consultant to develop business cases to improve patient service delivery/experience

10. •To investigate and respond to complaints and concerns and be proactive in conducting patient experience surveys. Ensure feedback is given to staff and any improvement action points implemented
