Job Purpose
To survey, disassemble, repair, evaluate, assemble, and test various STATS tools and equipment, as well as operate various tools in a safe manner while ensuring a quality product is produced at all times. The candidate should have experience with electrical/mechanical work, suitable for a third-year apprentice or someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship.

Main Responsibilities
* Support in surveying, disassembling, repairing, evaluating, assembling, and testing tools/equipment according to standards/procedures set by STATS & clients.
* Maintain high standards of quality for STATS products and services.
* Work safely at all times to protect colleagues, visitors, and clients.
* Move material/equipment within the shop area.
* Report any defects to material, components, or equipment to the Workshop Supervisor.
* Ensure all drawings, procedures, and instructions are up-to-date before starting work.
* Assist in proposing and introducing new assembly and testing techniques to improve productivity or safety.
* Liaise with the Senior Technician on issues arising.
* Report environmental, health, & safety issues.
* Work within STATS standards and procedures at all times.
* Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives.
* Perform other duties as required by the Workshop Supervisor.
* Assist in creating risk assessments as needed.
* Coordinate with Workshop Supervisor and Team Leader on material and project issues.
* Help introduce new safety equipment.
* Maintain sufficient material and stock levels in the store.
* Ensure material certification and traceability.

* Comply with quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures.
* Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately.

Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
* Understanding of engineering drawings, terminology, assembly, and pressure testing equipment.
* Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
* Safe use of assembly and testing equipment and tools.
* Proficiency with inspection equipment.
* Knowledge of various assembly and testing methods.
* Ability to work independently.
* Planning skills for assembly and testing.
Qualifications
* Mechanical trade qualification with understanding of assembly and pressure testing techniques.
* Completion of SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations and National Certification, or working towards a Higher National Certificate.
Personal Qualities
* Ability to work as part of a small team.
* Flexibility for shift work.
* Effective use of lifting equipment.
* Understanding of environment and health & safety.
