About the Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our highly regarded Integrated Disability Service Early Years’ Team and be part of Warwickshire’s EY SEND journey. The team consists of specialist teachers, inclusion mentors, SEND Childcare Co-ordinators and Child Development Advisers supporting families and Early Years providers to meet the needs of youngest children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, resourceful and enthusiastic practitioner with outstanding experience and skill to work with children and their families at home or transitioning into an EY setting. Applications from practitioners who are already Portage trained are particularly welcomed. This post requires the ability to be organised, flexible and effective in a fast changing environment, using a Team Around the Child Approach to ensure positive outcomes.

The role will be 0.8 mainly in the centre and south of the county.

Key Requirements

As a Child Development Adviser you will:

1. have a recognised Early Years qualification, relevant to the post, to at least NVQ Level 3 equivalent. You will have either completed Portage training or be willing to do so.
2. have significant recent and successful post qualification experience working as an Early Years Practitioner (or similar role) with children in the Early Years who have complex SEND.
3. have knowledge and understanding of Early Years and SEND effective practice and issues.
4. provide support and advice to families of children with complex needs, empowering parents and carers to develop their child's play and learning.
5. support professionals in settings to develop their skills and capacity to promote positive outcomes at the point of transition.
6. have the ability to be part of the ‘team around the child’, working flexibly alongside not only families but colleagues from Health, Education, Social Care and the community, to ensure positive outcomes.
7. have the ability to work under pressure, meeting unpredictable deadlines and managing competing demands effectively, thinking creatively to find solutions.
